If you're a fan of the CW's The Vampire Diaries, you will love the new installment in TVD oeuvre, Stefan's Diaries: Origins. The book will follow the show's mythology, rather than that of the original books released in the '90s. Here's a sneak peek of the next volume of Stefan's Diaries, Bloodlust, featuring the beautiful Ian Somerhalder. Woot!

If you’ve been reading my blog or twitter the last few months, you may have noticed something. I LOVE Damon Salvatore on the CW’s The Vampire Diaries.

You also may have noticed that Stefan Salvatore is rarely mentioned. In other words, when I found out Harper Teen was releasing Stefan’s Diaries: Origins, I wasn’t too excited. I’m not a huge fan of the books, which styles the Salvatore brothers as Italian noblemen during the Renaissance.

But then I actually took a moment to read about the book. Stefan’s Diaries: Origins is NOT written by L.J. Smith and instead of adhering to her, lets face it, less cool beginning for the delectable brothers, the book instead follows the show and starts off in 1864 in the South.

If you’re suddenly more excited about this release, you can read the first seven chapters here. The second volume to Stefan’s Diaries, called Bloodlust, will be out early in 2011. Now if only the Powers That Be could discover Damon’s Diaries…

Here’s the official synopsis:

Set during the Civil War, against a backdrop of grand estates, unimaginable riches, and deadly secrets, three teenagers in Mystic Falls, Virginia enter a torrid love triangle that will span eternity.

Brothers Stefan and Damon Salvatore are inseparable until they meet Katherine, a stunning, mysterious woman who turns their world upside down. Siblings turned rivals, the Salvatores compete for Katherine’s affection, only to discover that her sumptuous silk dresses and glittering gems hide a terrible secret: Katherine is a vampire. And she is intent on turning them into vampires so they can live together-forever.

Based on the popular CW TV show inspired by the bestselling novels, Stefan’s Diaries reveals the truth about what really happened between Stefan, Damon, and Katherine—and how the Vampire Diaries love triangle began.
